about
technique
|
Established in 1995 Technique
now supplies its software and services to some of the largest
names in the Printing Industry.
Software development first started with a production planning tool
which is now in use in many plants in the UK, Europe, South Africa
and the US. Since then,
product development has gone from strength to strength encompassing
areas such as estimating, job management and costing.
Technique has a significant
advantage as our products and services have been developed in
close consultation with end users in major printing companies.
This is further strengthened by our policy of employing professionals
from the printing industry who understand both IT systems and
print practices.
From the start, Technique took advantage of its experience in supplying large print companies and developed broader
solutions based on this knowledge. By working closely with such customers we have developed a suite of applications that provide a first class fit with print business needs.
This contrasts starkly with some of our competitors who often start with solutions for small print companies and stretch
their products upwards.

print industry solutions
Technique offers solutions through a complete set of modular applications that can be
implemented as stand-alone products or as an integrated
suite to meet the business requirements.
We provide modules that cover all stages of the print job
administration, control and management. From the sales
enquiry to estimate, planning and order management through
to job costing and invoicing.
Print provides
a unique challenge in these vital business areas being a special
mix of service and manufacturing processes. Technique concentrates
its products around these specialist areas whilst providing open
interfaces to permit integration with other business systems such
as pre-press, purchasing and accounts.

our approach - modular but integrated
The
majority of software suppliers to printing companies concentrate
on a fully integrated provision, often containing very weak modules
that only scratch the surface in important areas. Technique believes
that efficient handling of commercial print requires software
applications that are as specific to the industry as the printing
and finishing machines.
An example of
this is the revolutionary Estimating application which does not
use a traditional template based format. Instead, Technique
Estimating is a true expert system with full automatic route generation
unlike any other system on the market.
Integration of
the various software elements in the printer's MIS system is important.
However, Technique gives the customer the choice of how much to
integrate. We do not insist that customers use only Technique
software modules. We believe that recent advances in software
development allow a much broader range
of choice. Customers do not have to throw away their favourite
or vital software module, Technique will fully integrate with
it.
|
Technique's philosophy
is to offer the best software solutions in a modular fashion offering
flexibility or full integration where necessary. The distinct
advantage is the ability to offer point solutions where a client
sees the greatest opportunity for improvement. This approach has
enabled Technique to solve problems cost effectively with many
very large print companies where other software providers have
failed.
A staged approach
to implementation is vital. It enables quicker returns on
investment as well as making sure that both systems and
culture change are manageable and successful.
The fresh easy to use
interface in all Technique applications enables new users to
quickly become familiar with the intuitive operation,
further helping the important process of changing a way of
working.
This leads
to extraordinarily short pay back periods whilst also
eliminating the risk to the client's business caused by an
all at once implementation.
